FlyingNikka in the Voiles de Saint Tropez regatta

After her début at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, the test event that ended a day early due to a minor technical hitch, FlyingNikka returns to the regatta, for the second and last appointment in her first racing season.

The location is the Cote d’Azur, the event is Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, the most important of the end-of-season meetings in the Mediterranean and a historical event that every year, among others, hosts some of the world’s most important Maxi Yachts.

And in this ideal setting, the FlyingNikka will be making her début in a fleet regatta along with the other Maxis (class Maxi 1, with IRC certificate), an absolute first as, in Porto Cervo, Roberto Lacorte’s revolutionary 60’ full foiling took part in a class of its own, so without any direct competitors.

This time will be different, and many people are curious to see the FlyingNikka in the water, on the starting line with the other Maxis.

Unfortunately, the weather forecasts for the whole week are expecting very light winds, certainly not the ideal conditions for the FlyingNikka, which takes flight at wind speeds of 12 knots upwards, but this has not stopped the Lacorte team from putting themselves and the boat to the test in any weather conditions.

The programme includes a number of coastal regattas from Tuesday to Saturday (with a rest day on Thursday, hoping that despite the unfavourable forecasts, Aeolus can be felt a bit stronger…
